Yasmin Alibhai-Brown: Stupidity at its Finest

I was having my mid-morning break from work today and during this time I like to visit a number of sites to catch up on the daily news and one such site was the excellent News At Den which is a Millwall news site, they were running with a news item that was responding to a story in the Independent newspaper by a journalist called Yasmin Alibhai-Brown.

For those of you who have been lucky enough not to have your eyes polluted by her writing she is a writer who describes herself as “a leftie liberal, anti-racist, feminist, Muslim, part-Pakistani, and a very responsible person.” She is also known for telling the monarchy to shove their MBE up their arses.

She wrote about the recent anti-racism hoopla that has been everywhere recently with regards to certain black football players refusing to wear the Kick It Out t-shirts as a protest message to the group. During the article she called all Millwall fans “animals” when they watch black players.

Millwall’s Chief executive, Andy Ambler, was on the phone to the editor within minutes to give him an ear-bashing and Millwall’s name was subsequently removed from the article on some, but not all, of The Independent’s digital platforms (the article didn’t make it into their printed newspaper).

Millwall do more to try and eradicate racism from football than any other football club in the world (and you can check with the Kick It Out group for confirmation of this), but it is truly sad that the hard work by the club in this area is undone by one or two (and it won’t be more than that) mindless morons.

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown has made a career out of causing controversy with her work, I still remember her appearance on The Wright Stuff when she cheerfully said that she wanted to see white middle-class men wiped out so that ethnic men and women could get better jobs, when the presenter challenged her by saying “that is a racist comment, isn’t it?” she replied “of course” and grinned.

I’m not surprised that this vile woman still has a writing career because editors will queue around the block to hire someone who will stir things up and get reader eyeballs glued to their sites waiting to see what will spew forth from her fingers next. I think it is a mistake on Millwall’s part to invite her to come and watch a home game because the fans will give her a lot of abuse and that will just give her even more ammo.

Although at least this shows she can write about more than how unfairly treated her fellow Muslims are in this country so at least we are spared yet another article about that.
