I was sitting on the train on my way to work this evening when I noticed a young man standing near one of the doors. I noticed him because he was looking up and down the carriage like he was about to do or say something.
He eventually walked up to one end of the carriage and said very loudly “good evening ladies and gentlemen….”
I have not seen a collective group of people clench their arseholes in unison before, it was quite a sight. They thought he was about to ask them for money.
“…I’d like to talk to you about God.”
It was worse than they thought, he was a religious nut!
At the next station more than half the carriage left the train, not because it was their stop, they would happily wait another 30 minutes for the next train rather than be lectured on their sinning ways by this God botherer.
He was unperturbed by this snub and carried on asking searching questions such as if any of us could honestly stand up and say we have never told a lie in our lives.
He continued until we both had to get off at Southbury.
By the time we had got to the top of the stairs he had informed a lady that her bag was leaking and helped carry someone’s pram up the stairs.
He was a thoroughly nice and helpful young man who has found joy and comfort in religion and wants as many other people to feel the same way as he does. For the rest of the evening I just couldn’t help but feel bad for the way people reacted to him.
