I took part in the Hackney Half Marathon on Sunday, I won’t talk too much about the race (you can read about that on my running blog), but I wanted to talk about the support that was offered by people who came to watch on the day.
I was only expecting a few people to line the streets in places, but what I wasn’t expecting was THOUSANDS of people lining the course from start to finish. People were hanging out their windows to yell encouragement, spraying hoses from their gardens to keep us cool, bands turned up to play as we passed them with weird guiro instrument that I had never heard before let alone seen.
It was a great turnout by the non-runners and at times their encouragements really helped carry me along when I wanted to stop and walk.
I can’t wait until next year!
