After yesterday’s disappointment I decided that if today’s team messed me about then I would probably call it a day and continue sitting on the bench for Custom House. I may not like being overlooked but at least they have regular training sessions.
Today’s training was with a club called SE Lions; I went and watched their last game on Sunday as they were torn apart by a long-ball team 14-1. After watching them I was very confident that I could muscle my way into the starting line up.
Training was rather early at 5:30, when I got to the park I was worried that I would not be able to spot them but I recognised the manager straight away so made my way over and started to get changed.
The training was good; they did an hours worth of fitness and ball skills and then half and hour of a five-a-side game. The people who turned up were definitely missing from Sunday; there was a lot of skill on show tonight.
I did well with the fitness and ball skills, but I think that might be because my partner was rubbish and made me look bloody awesome. I struggled in the training game because my calf muscles had tightened up the night before and I could barely run after the fitness training.
Luckily I had told the trainer before the session and he went easy on me.
I didn’t get a chance to speak with the manager after training because he was injured in a tackle and went to hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken ankle. But I did speak to the trainer who seemed to want to sign me; I’m going along on Sunday and will see what happens.
I should have gone home but I went along to Custom House’s training session and paid for it after the warm up, we went straight into a small game and I couldn’t even jog for the ball, I had to make another player stay back with me and run after balls.
Hopefully this ‘feeling’ in my calves doesn’t stay with me for the weekend games; I don’t want to have to pull out.
