Thinking About Going Art Nouveau?

Operation: Decorate The Flat has officially begun.

I actually “officially” started this project in the middle of last year when I stripped the wallpaper from the wall in the toilet, but then discovered FOUR layers of the stuff and each one of them had been painted over, so I abandoned the project.

Well, this year I am finally going to start doing it. I don’t have many rooms to do: Front room, hall, kitchen, bedroom, shower room and toilet. My nephew can decorate his own room, he is big enough and ugly enough.

I’m going to start with the front room as I believe that will be the easiest of them all. All I need to do is strip the wallpaper, slap up some paint (I’m not sure if that is the technical term for it), replace the sofa, hang the TV on the wall, put up some blinds and put up a floating media unit.

I’m not really a big fan of wallpaper, but my mum and girlfriend have been pushing the idea of art nouveau wallpaper onto me, and to be honest, the more I look at it the more I’m beginning to come around to the idea.

The reason I’m not a big fan of wallpaper is that children (and some adults if we are being honest) like to wipe their hands on walls. And I was not sure if Art Nouveau Style Wallpaper is the kind of wallpaper that can be wiped with a cloth or not.

Maybe I will take the plunge and just do the one room and see how it goes. After all Astek Home do a whole range of Online Art Nouveau Wallcoverings on their site to look at and choose from.
