For the past couple of months I have really been trying to stick to a more healthier diet. I have been running a lot over the past year or so and do a lot of walking, but my diet was holding me back – whatever good I did with running and walking was being swiftly undone by me gobbling down takeaways and beer.
The only difference I’ve noticed is that now most of my clothes no longer fit me! But friends and family have certainly noticed the reduction in weight (I am now down to 225lbs from 311lbs) and have been quick to mention it – one even going so far as to say I look like I have lost about 10 stone, not sure how to take that!
I’ll be honest, at first I found eating healthy a heck of a lot more expensive than stuffing junk into my face, but if you are prepared to look about then you will find plenty of helpful pages online that show you how to choose healthy foods that won’t break the bank. It will still be a bit more expensive than junk food, but you can do it on an affordable budget – even more so if you are prepared to cook and then freeze food.
What some people might be surprised to hear is that I have not looked at myself without my clothes on yet. That’s right, I haven’t even done the ‘stand in front of the mirror in your underwear’ thing. Why? Because I’m worried that the fat person I once knew will still be looking back at me. Plus I was never really the kind of person who looked at their self in the mirror much anyway.
How much more do I want to lose? I don’t want to be too skinny, so I’d be happy to go down to 215lb or 210lb, I like having a bit of meat on my bones.
