Decorating has officially started. I have been threatening to do it for the last couple of years, but it didn’t feel right changing things in a flat that four years on I still look upon as Dad’s Flat. But I finally bit the bullet and started on my bedroom.

After my run I cleared out my room by moving the contents into the front room. We then realised that the mould on the wall has become a lot worse, it is now on two walls and is more than half way up both walls.

We painted the rest of the walls, but left the mould part, I will have to chase the council up in the morning about coming out to treat it. I have asked them before, but because the damage has been caused by a private tenant upstairs they were not so keen to come out.

I spent last night laying on the sofa (my temporary bed for the next few days) looking at new bedroom furniture and I couldn’t believe how expensive mattresses have become! I was seeing prices of £80-£100 for the bed frame and then the cheapest price for a mattress was £400.

£400!
