I haven’t updated this blog in a while because I have been so busy with my writing commitments, and I have just been down right lazy. Sometimes I wish I could have just a capful of the energy that Richard Herring does, he hasn’t missed a day out of his blog in other 8 years!
So what have I been up to?
To Plymouth & (not) Beyond
I have been to Plymouth for two short breaks. It is a rather lovely place with plenty of nightlife. The only downside is that the 7 hour journey I make on the coach because I’m too cheap to spend £50 each way on a train ticket. It might take 7 hours but it only costs £14 there and £14 back … even cheaper if I book early.
The coach company leaves London and then stops off at Bristol city centre, Bristol University, Exeter bus station and then heads for Plymouth that is why it takes 7 hours, that doesn’t include the mount of driver changes either.
Working Hard for the Money
I’ve been trying to work as much as possible recently. I have no idea how I come over to people online, or via text, when they ask me what I have been up to and my normal response has been “just working”.
I’m rather pleased that I have become so busy. I could probably do with being more organised, as I could be getting more done, but hopefully that will come later.
One More Season (Yet Again)
Every year I vow to hang up my football boots but every year I somehow manage to continue playing. I have been signed to play for Custom House FC, which is a club that has been formed from the ashes of Bethnal Green Celtic, another team I used to play for. Oh why can’t I just retire and collect coupon codes like the other old timers?
The secretary (who also acts as assistant manager when the manager is away) asked me to come to a friendly and bring my boots as the numbers were very low. I was thrown on for the last 30 minutes and “rolled back the years” as they say. And people noticed, I got plenty of “why don’t you play football again, you played a blinder today”.
Well the following Saturday I was not just asked to come as a sub, I was thrown into the starting line-up. We played a team called Newham Royals and played very well to come back from 2-0 down to draw the game.
I am really enjoying my football again.
Raven is Dead, Long Live Reiss!
My main homo (that’s how the kids say it, right?) Reiss has got himself a new girlfriend and I could not be happier for him. Neither of us have had the best of luck with women but he seems to have bagged himself a decent one at last. She must be a bit special because she has managed to do what nobody else has…. stop calling himself Raven!
