It felt odd not being at work today. I have been volunteering to work weekends for the last month or so to make some extra money, so being able to wake up at 8am (yes that is a lay-in for me) was quite a treat.
I had a race later on in the day, it was the National Cross Country Championships, one of the oldest cross country competitions in the country and it used to be the top race of the year.
I ended up not going and I can’t put my finger on why I keep doing this. I have been putting off training runs and races for the past two months. And I’m using silly excuses like:
I have to clean the toilet.
I have to put a load in the washing machine/dishwasher and it might blow up.
My DVDs need sorting.
I legitimately used these excuses not to train or race.
I’m not anxious about mixing with people due to Covid, I look forward to the training run and race until a couple of hours before I’m due to do it.
Answers on a postcard, please.
