I turned up at Lyle Park this afternoon to watch the mighty Custom House take on Eastfield in cup competition, as I approached the pitch I noticed my brother had a face on him like thunder, a lot of the players had pulled out at the last minute and things were so bad that he asked me to get a kit on as I would have to start the game at left back.
I played 20 minutes until the left back turned up and I duly came off, as it is roll on roll off I didn’t bother getting changed as I was the only sub and five minutes later a midfielder pulled his groin and super Dean took to the field in the centre of midfield for the rest of the game.
I was very pleased with my performance, considering it is the first competitive game I’ve played in for quite a while, and I even managed to fire a shot at goal which Wayne said to me afterwards he was hoping would not go in.
We won the match 3-0.
I nipped home for a quick wash and change of clothes and then I was off to The Pipeline in Liverpool Street to celebrate Alison’s birthday with a few people. I wasn’t really in the mood to be out as I was very tired, but I forced myself out for a couple of beers.
