Today I was trying to add a new board to my football forum and I was getting a database error with no details of the error. Thankfully I know that the board logs errors in little files so I dragged it up and found the following error:
Date: Thu, 29 May 2008 19:38:40 +0100
Error Number: 1054
Error: Unknown column ‘c_on’ in ‘field list’
IP Address: (removed)
(other bits moved as they were too long for the post and stretched the template)
I searched Google and did not find one single answer to my problem so I searched for similar errors and thankfully found plenty of them. I found a popular fix for the similar problem and altered it to my own needs and ran it.
This is the fix that I used:
ALTER TABLE `ibf_forums` ADD `c_on` text NOT NULL;
I logged into my admin panel of the forum and went to Admin | SQL Management and then clicked on SQL Toolbox and entered the query above into the Run a Query box and ran it.

I received a leter today from T-Mobile, the company that I use to get connected to the internet via mobile broadband. The letter state that during the month of April I had exceeded my limit of 10gb and used over 11gb and that they had lowered my connection speed as a result.
This confused me a great deal as when I signed up for this about seven months ago I picked the only plan they offered that did not have any sort of cap. I curently pay £35.00 a month there was no mention of capping when I signed up (if there as then I would have moved on).
I decided to check their web site and low and behold there it is in the small print, they have implemented a fair use policy of 10gb a month, his was not there when I signed up fo a 24 month contract (this as the only contract length available).
So they have basically snuck this little cap thing in and have not even bothered to tell their clients of this. I phoned them about two weeks ago to order a second modem for my dad’s computer and they did not tell me anything about a cap then.
The amazing thing is they are still advertising the plan as unlimited. How can it be unlimited if they put a 10gb limit on you? Answers on a postcard please.

If you ask many bloggers what they think about the Google PR feature they will most probably give a negative view on it. After all you want to build your blog for you and your readers, not to please some racist mechanical spider who crawls web sites dictating how it wants your blog/web site to look.
If you wish to make an income from your blog then PR is very important because most companies look at your PR to distinguish whether they will get a valid return on their investment in advertising on your blog.
I do not think PR should make a difference but sadly we are minority and advertisers demand PR so we have to bend to them if we want to take their money.
The recent Google PR update has hit Dean Saliba Dot Com incredibly hard, possibly harder than it has hit any other blog this time. For this recent update saw the blog drop from a PR2 blog to a PR0 blog.
This is where the PR thing becomes unstable an inconsistant. I update this blog on average twice a week now and I link build most days, all my content is unique and yet I drop to a PR0.
Look at my brother’s blog he updates about once a fortnight and does no link building at all yet he went up from a PR0 to a PR1 and he has only been running his blog for a month!
As you can imagine this has hurt me very badly as it was hard enough making an income with a PR2 blog, now I have a PR0 blog it is going to become that much more difficult.
It is not all bad news though, my I Need Discipline blog has risen from a PR0 to a PR1 (when I purchased the domain it was a PR3 but fell to PR0 because it was inactive).

Today I woke up and asked my dad if he was going to use his computer, he said he had tried to get online but was not having any luck. So I booted her up and showed him how to log onto the internet and whe nI went to type soemthing in the search engine nothing happened.
I checked to see if he keyboard lead had fallen out of his socket and found the pins had all been bent.
He flatly denies it was him but there are only two people living here and it certainly was not me (I was actually using it the night before to transfer items to my new PC.
So I know have to go back into town, probably on Sunday, and buy him a new keyboard. I have this little feeling that he might have done this on purpose.

My old PC was OK but it just was not powerful enough for me anymore, it was like splitting from a longterm girlfriend, but my new lover is faster and more powerful than my ex ever could be!
I have been having tremendous fun downloading lots of wrestling shows and comedy shows and watching them, which I could not do on my old PC. Good job I have an unlimited IPS account as I might have used up my time in about 10 minutes!
Tomorrow is my dad’s birthday so I will give him my old PC but I will have to go out and buy him a keyboard and mouse. I’ve also ordered a new mobile broadband modem for him which will cost me £15.00 a month, so he had better use it!
