Employers Can See Your Convictions

I have been unemployed for a long time now, one of the reasons is because I have been looking after my disabled dad for the past 12 years but the other reason is to do with the dreaded employment screening that companies do when hiring.

It does not matter how great I do in the interview as soon as they see I have petty convictions for theft (when I was about 13/14!) and being drunk in public they shut me down quicker than a virus shuts down a computer!

Despite this I do see the good that they provide. Companies will (in most cases) be able to see what convictions you have and decide whether they will make you a less than perfect employee.

How stealing some chocolate at 13 means I can’t work as a road sweeper or a school cleaner I have no idea.
