How Come I Don’t Get Minimum Wage?

I was reading about how the government has raised the minimum wage to something like £5.73 an hour. The reason this article was so interesting to me was because I am paid by the government to look after my father.

In order to get this money from the government I must promise to look after him for at least 35 hours a week. This means I get paid about £2.52 an hour to look after him.

Does not seem fair really does it?

Just to be frank.. i don’t really get the point. Is it good to take money for taking care of your father?

Let me clear something up here.

I live in London which is bloody expensive. The minimum wage in London has been raised to something like £5.73 to help people live in London because it is so expensive.

If the government raise minimum wage why not raise the money for people like me who can not work because they are already working 35 hours a week looking after someone?
