Excellent Training Session

Friday, February 29th, 2008 | Acton Town with No Comments »

Training was really fun last night. I turned up to see a group of them blasting the ball at eachother, I tried to stay out of the way but someone managed to get me by hitting the ball over my head, hitting the netting behind me andit dropped onto my head and then bounced on the grass and hit me in the chin.

I’m not sure if it is the fact that I’m doing som extra workouts at home during the week but I found the training very easy on my body this week, normally when we do some running I’m lagging at the back but I was with th front of the pack for the entire session and felt fine.

Not only were the workouts enjoyable but there was a lot of team banter going on that made the session even more enjoyable for me. Such as Edward yelling and trying to put people off.

At the end we ha a normal match, due to the fact that only about 10 people bothered to turn up it was much smaller than usual. Jeff was playing on the left side of defence so I took the opportunity to push up and be a bit more attacking and I was really pleased with the way it went.

I was getting the ball a lot more which was weird bcause I’m not used to that and did not know what to do with it half the time. But I made some nice passes, put in some nice tackles and almost scored a couple of times. I even put Zico under pressure a few times and forced him to knock the ball out of play.

Tomorrow we play FC Tilburg Rengent at home, this is the team that I scored my one and only goal against last season, and it was a home game so I’m certainly going to be pushing for them to let me go up for corners if I’m centreback., If I’m leftback then I’m going to ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!

I hate Shopping!

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 | Dean Saliba Dot Com with No Comments »

I really do hate shopping. I’m not a very sociable person at the best of times, but when I am forced to mingle with people who feel the need to needlessly get in your way or ram their trolley into the back of your legs then I get even more annoyed than normal.

On the way to the supermarket I have to walk past a school and they ha lt the little shits out for lunch. I was walking when a schoolgirl came out of a shop and was mobbed by her friends who were begging for a bit of her drink.

One of the girls looked at me and then said to the girl, quite randomly, “you can hide it in your breasts but I’ll still go in for it!” The girl immediately reeled back in horror and yelled “Ewww you fucking lesbian!”

As I came out of the supermarket, weighed down with bags of shopping, I ended up walking the same direction as a youngish woman, she ended up going in front of me as I was being slowed down by the shopping. By a bit of coincidence we ended up going the same way all the way to the housing estate it turned out we both live on.

As we got into the housing estate she started looking over her shoulder at me and started to quicken her pace. She thought I was following her. Yes that is what I do, I stalk people whilst being weighed down with ten bags of shopping!

Acton Town Win A Game!

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 | Acton Town with No Comments »

Acton Town won a game yesterday! I know it is hard to believe, myself and Martin (coach) kept saying that we could not believe it on the bus to the train station.

We almost threw it away though as we were 4-1 up and just about held on to win 5-4. The ref gave them two very dodgy penalties and was leting a lot of things go that he should not have. I’m not saying he was cheating, he was merely clueless about what he was doing.

On the whole I was quite happy wih my performance. I only gave away one freekick and did not get a booking so that means I am able to be in contention for Saturday’s game. I am on four yellow cards and one more means I’m suspended.

I had a couple of beers in the club house after the game and was chilling a bit with Jayson, Martin and Jayson’s dad. I should not really drink more than one pint though as I start needing to use the toilet halfway home on the train and they don’t offer toilets on the London Underground trains.

Speaking of Saturday’s game we are at home to Tilburg Rengents, this is the team that I scored my one and only goal against and it as at our home ground as well. Will the same thing happen again? That is very doubtful as I’m not allow to push up wether I’m at left back or centre defence.
