I think I know the success of John Chow.
People who are new to making money see his blog slogan and think following his ways (blogging about what he eats, etc) is the way to make money. More experienced marketers try and cash in by advertising on his blog.
You can tell that people are seeing through him now just by the way he has stopped announcing how much he earns a month and the dwindling amount of advertisers on his blog.
